Shopping

Boasting more than 1,500 stores, Glasgow is the dream location for shopaholics. High-profile brands and retailers can be found at Style Mile, a square in the city centre offering up speciality and designer shops such as House of Fraser, along with malls, independent boutiques and more.

The famous Fat Buddah on Queen Street attracts visitors from far and wide, and Slater Menswear Store is a short walk away. Women can also make the most of familiar faces like Monsoon and Hobbs. Elsewhere, the West End is considered the Yin to Style Mile’s Yang, promising quirkier and more bohemian choices.

Eating Out

Glasgow is home to a diverse, varied collection of delightful eateries. Di Maggio’s West End has been serving up authentic Italian cuisine since 1985. DiStill is a rum bar and restaurant that is ideal for pre-theatre food and drink, and The Islay Inn provides a taste of the highlands for its globe-trotting guests.

Café India is a highlight of the cosmopolitan Merchant City, while No. 16 Restaurant prides itself on dazzling customers with its own unique quirky take on Scottish dishes.

Nightlife

Glaswegians are famously-friendly people who are proud to see revellers from home and abroad enjoy themselves when the city comes to life. An enviable blend of music, entertainment, dancing and drinking makes for a great night out in a place that just loves to party. Gin71 was the city’s first dedicated gin bar. The clue is obviously in the name, with 71 different gins from across the planet to keep you on your toes!

The Corinthian, featuring 14 rooms across five floors, is open 24 hours a day and is a hub of bars, clubs, restaurants, meeting rooms and gaming. Oran Mor is an arts and entertainment venue in the West End, and The Stand Comedy Club is sure to tickle your funny bone.

Culture

There are more than 20 art galleries and museums throughout the city, such as the renowned Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the award-winning Burrell Collection, and the fearless Riverside Museum. The celebrated work of architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh can be detected all over Glasgow, not least his most famous masterpiece, Glasgow School of Art.

Merchant City, which has been rejuvenated by heavy investment, is widely-regarded as the cultural centre of Glasgow. Ex-mercantile buildings and warehouses have been transformed into popular bars, restaurants and designer outlets.
