St. Andrews is one of Scotland’s most scenic and historically interesting towns, famous across the world as “the Home of Golf” and home to the stunning ruins of the St. Andrews Cathedral and Blackfriars Monastery. From your base in East Shore, you’ll be perfectly situated to enjoy the best that this gorgeous town has to offer, from unbeatable views and walks to a thriving nightlife and festival scene.
If you’re looking to do a bit of shopping, St. Andrews can provide, with a shopping district that’s full to the brim with boutique shops and high-street staples, as well as regular markets and festivals like the monthly Farmer’s Market, the Crail Food Festival and the Lammas Market, which all provide a peek into traditional and local foods, crafts and art that you’d be crazy to miss.
After you’re done shopping, you’ll want something to eat – and renting in St. Andrews, you’ll always be spoiled for choice: try local legends like Vine Leaf, known across the city for their delicious and incredibly diverse menu, or The Seafood Ristorante, for some fresh local seafood served Italian style and with a stunning view. That’s all reason enough to come to St. Andrews, but even if the town had none of that at all, there’d still be a powerful reason to visit: it’s one of the most beautiful and unique places in the British Isles. If you’re looking for scenery, you won’t find anything better than West Sands Beach, or the view from the top of the historic St. Rules’ Tower. St. Andrews Cathedral ruins are some of the most incredible in the UK, and their architectural, historic and religious significance is truly awesome – you really have to see it to believe it. They’re not the only stunning ruins in this ancient town, though – the Blackfriars Monastery and St. Andrews Castle both give the cathedral a run for its money.
